The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Christine Urges Scott To Reconsider Undercover Assignment

Scott (Daniel Hall) doesn’t want to hear what his aunt is saying on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But the undercover assignment Christine (Lauralee Bell) is pushing must be important. Clearly this plot information was invented because Agent Grainger is about to go undercover again.

In a very soapy twist, Scott was recently revealed as a government operative who has been posing as a journalist for years. Y&R dug deep into the show’s history to weave Christine into Scott’s storyline. She’s his aunt through his father. The late Scott Grainger Senor (Peter Barton) was Christine’s half-brother, as they had the same mother.

Suddenly Scott is far more intriguing. Wrap his true backstory with the fact that he was asked by Victor (Eric Braeden) to write his biography and Y&R has transformed a forgotten character into a major player in Genoa City. Whatever assignment Chris is coordinating for him will likely prove to be interesting.

Barton was a regular on the show more than 20 years ago and was last seen in 2005. The infamous Sheila Carter (arguably portrayed by one of Y&R’s greatest actors, Kimberlin Brown) was obsessed with Scott, Senior. She switched Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Scott Senior’s baby with another baby and then passed him off as her own.

Eventually Lauren regained her connection with Scott, Jr. and all was well, until Sheila returned to torment her on many subsequent occasions. Brown’s unforgettable performances netted her two Soap Opera Digest Awards (1993, 1995) which included one (1995) for her work as the same character on The Bold and the Beautiful. However, Brown only received one Daytime Emmy Award nomination (1993), which was deeply unjust.

Some hardcore Y&R fans are breathlessly hoping that Scott Junior’s return somehow leads to Sheila’s resurrection as well. Sheila, who was last played by Michelle Stafford in a dual role in 2007, was shown to have been shot and killed by Lauren. If Sheila isn’t coming back, she does have various kooky offspring roaming somewhere in the world.
