‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Chelsea Still Considering Nick – Adam Newman Gone But Still Loved

Adam (Justin Hartley) will always be Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) soul mate on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But he’s gone, written out of the story as a potential recast can was kicked down the road by Sally Sussman. So that’s why Nick (Joshua Morrow) remains a viable option for Egan’s character as of the second month in 2017.

Soap operas can be realistic. But the need to move character’s storylines along also necessitate accepted plot advancement. So Chelsea won’t be grieving for years.

In fact, lessening shots of her pining in front of Adam’s photos and reflections on ‘Chadam’ in general have been seen recently.

Nick lost his wife (Sage, Kelly Sullivan) last year in a tragic car accident. That arc played into the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) reveal, which bring us back to the ongoing, potential Chelsea option.

Being an involuntary single parent is very different from choosing to go it alone for whatever ideological reasons are proposed. Nick made a promise to his brother, when they bonded during a visit at Walworth State Prison where Adam was then-incarcerated. In so doing Nick agreed to look out for Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) if Adam was going to be sentenced to decades behind bars.

Of course viewers know that both men’s father, Victor (Eric Braeden), helped Adam to escape from prison, after which he appears to have been killed when the cabin he was hiding in exploded. This recap represents the reason why Nick has been in regular contact with Chelsea in recent months. And then Christian came back to his arms.

Both characters have commonalities. They are often easy-going, committed to their children and are clearly physically attracted to each other. But will that lead to more? A question that Chelsea is currently considering.

Sussman’s team didn’t invent this so-called ‘Chick’ option. It was created by Y&R’s prior head writer Chuck Pratt, Jr. Whether the current regime believes this particular pairing is viable will likely be further revealed during this month of love, possibly by Valentine’s Day.
