The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Chelsea and Nick Moving Toward Marriage – Family Form Already Exists

Some fans might not like it, but Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) appear to be moving toward marriage on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Yes, these characters were mashed together (‘Chick’) due to cast changes. But an organic evolution subsequently allowed them to become a believable couple inside Genoa City.

Step back Y&R fans. Okay, now ask yourselves how many people you’ve known in your real lives who were in a long-standing relationship, but then moved on to another partner at a later point in time? Would the answer be zero? Of course not. It happens all the time in every part of the globe, not just in this fictional Wisconsin town.

The above paragraph represents a way to rationalize how Chelsea and Nick came to be together. Peel back whatever thoughts one has about having wanted Justin Hartley to have remained in the cast, or for Michael Muhney to have never left. Forget about Sage’s (Kelly Sullivan) write-out making Nick suddenly available. And don’t think about all of the dating options both Chelsea and Nick have.

Because Hartley’s version of Adam is believed to be dead, it was natural for Chelsea to bond with Nick. Remember, Nick promised his brother that he would look out for Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) if Adam was going to be in prison indefinitely.

Adam’s apparent death caused Nick to deliver, which enabled him to be around Chelsea regularly. Recall that she and Nick were both widowed. Then Nick regained Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen), which meant that they had young sons, who were also cousins in common. Of course those boys are actually brothers, but that’s another plot point to work through on another digital day.

Both people have emotional and relationship baggage. If they do commit themselves to each other before God and with legal papers, ‘Chick’ will still hold two devastating secrets.

Chelsea knows Christian is Adam’s and Nick knows that his dad was involved with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). But for now this couple is plausible. It’s hardly the greatest pairing in Y&R’s history. But it does make sense to this scribe.
