Cane (Daniel Goddard) feels guilty on ‘The Young and the Restless’. One of the ways he’s expressing that is by becoming involved in Billy’s (Jason Thompson) love life. Mr. Ashby is afraid to tell his wife what happened in Tokyo, Japan, with Juliet (Laur Allen) so he’s using that situation to try and prevent Vickie (Amelia Heinle) from being betrayed.

Some people insert themselves into other people’s lives as a method of dealing with their own problems, or because their own lives are empty. Of course doing so doesn’t directly address whatever issues exist within the minds of those individuals who become busybodies.

Lily (Christel Khalil) told Cane not to entangle himself in the Billy-Vickie-Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) triangle. She did that after her husband advised her what he’d overhead Billy and Phyllis talking about in the coat room at the Top of the Tower. Cane paid Lily’s wise advice no heed the very next day.
After reading a text that Phyllis sent to Billy, Cane maneuvered Vickie toward the Jabot building’s intentionally stuck elevator where Billy and Phyllis were talking. Phyllis summoned Billy after she learned through Jack (Peter Bergman) that Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) showed no effects of a Multiple Sclerosis relapse. That point caused Phyllis to believe that Billy had lied to her about his recent meeting with Vickie.
Vickie actually fibbed to her ex-husband about her mother’s condition based upon Nikki’s advice. Nikki suggested her daughter take that verbal course of action in order to throw Billy off-track, as she didn’t want him sniffing around the main Newman family problem (Victor, Eric Braeden).
Cane is trying to bury the mistake he made, or appears to have made a few weeks ago. Regardless of what transpires with ‘Philly’ or ‘Villy’, that issue isn’t going away. Plus, Juliet has been telling tales about various Brash and Sassy players, including Cane. That factor likely means that Lily will eventually learn the truth through Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood).
