The Young and the Restless Spoilers: A New Y&R Coming – Mal Young Debuts as Head Writer

The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that executive producer Mal Young has taken over as the show’s new head writer. His first episodes are finally hitting the airwaves, with many viewers curious to see just how well he will do in his new role.

Mal says that as the new head writer, he wants to bring The Young and the Restless back to its roots with dramatic arcs an unexpected moment. In other words, he’s got plenty of surprises up his sleeves already.

Mal explained to CBS Soaps In Depth, “In Britain, this is how it’s done! You have a team, of course, but you need to have someone at the top who is overseeing every aspect of the show.”

The head executive also said that he’s not worried about taking on dual responsibility for the show. As a matter of fact, he sees it as a huge honor. Mal continued, “It’s a privilege to get your hands on an iconic show like this. It’s not one I take lightly. You want the viewer to feel as if they are going on a huge journey with lots of twists and turns. You want them to say, ‘I never say that coming!”

Mal’s first episode as head writer is expecting to air on Wednesday, October 25. What’s more, the show will also feature a song performed by his wife, pop star Mari Wilson. The song will be played when Jack puts on an old recording and thinks of his mother. According to Mal, it will be a very emotional moment.
