Everyone who believes in love wants to see ‘Villy’ reunited on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Hardcore cranks and all others who have deemed themselves experts on other people’s lives fly into a rage at the thought of this couple becoming super again. Yet, spring’s rebirth feels like the right time for Vickie (Amelia Heinle) and Billy (Jason Thompson) to give each other another chance.
How likely is it that the ending line in the last paragraph also irked the aforementioned cynics. Why would Billy give Vickie another chance? She’s the saint and evil Billy is the eternal sinner, or so screams the anti-‘Villy’ contingent via social media.
“Well, isn’t that special?”, said Dana Carvey’s Church Lady so many years ago on Saturday Night Live. And, also most recently in early November, just before a certain election. Carvey’s classic character mimics all know-it-alls who think they have everyone pegged, when actually every person alive is merely an expert on himself, or herself.

Have the various versions of Billy wronged Victoria repeatedly and then blown past second chances? Yes mam! Is Victoria’s family, especially King Victor I (Eric Braeden), far more than any in-law should bear and has Vickie been too demanding through the years? Yes sir! So why would anyone root for these two characters to become a super couple again?
Johnny (Ryan and Holden Hare), Katie (Sienna Mercuri) and now, Vickie’s newly returned son Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) would benefit from having more than one parent at home. That simple truth requires sacrifice. Of course, those who bought into 1960-ish mentalities will brand all who utter such words as Church Ladies. Sorry, civilization didn’t begin at Woodstock.
When emotional logic has been endured and countered common sense emerges. Children are better off with more than one parent, as long as both parties are sincere.

Viewers who try to see all sides of this situation know that Billy and Vickie weren’t perfect when they were together. However, these characters love each other and can make another marriage work now that they have moved into their mature (middle-aged) years. This humble (wink) scribe is willing to give them both another chance. And, the opinions of all reader’s also deserve to be heard.

How can you believe that Victoria should take Billy boy back when until recently he was swearing his undying love for his brother’s wife Phyllis.
Ehh. I’m tired of these two. Over seven years of their on again/off again choo choo train. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to skip any more Billy scenes because I just love Jason Thompson’s portrayal of the character, but oh well. I’ve been doing a lot of fast forwarding these days anyway.
