‘The Young and the Restless’ RUMOR: Walt Willey to Play Luther Fisk – Kingpin Also Sharon’s Father?

'The Young and the Restless' RUMOR: Walt Willey to Play Luther Fisk – Kingpin Also Sharon's Father?Rumors indicate that Walt Willey will play Luther Fisk on ‘The Young and the Restless.’ Dylan (Steve Burton) is assuming an undercover identity (Derek Young) in order to enter the world of this crime boss. Mr. McAvoy will attempt to bring down Fisk, but will that character also turn out to be Sharon’s (Sharon Case) father?

Savvy Y&R fans know the backstories of Burton and McAvoy. Burton announced that he’d turned in his voluntary resignation in the fall and filmed his final scenes last month. His character has been having great difficulty dealing with the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) fallout and therefore wants to get away from Genoa City.

Dylan isn’t concerned with the great risk involved in his assignment, which is to infiltrate a drug kingpin’s business operations. He believes that focusing on an intense case will allow him to work through a personal tragedy. But it seems obvious that the dangerous situation Dylan is being written into is establishing the endgame for this character.

Sharon is naturally frightened that her husband has embraced this risky job. She recently witnessed Dylan’s mind project a boy he was still calling Sully into his arms in their living room. That clear piece of evidence tagged serious dysfunction inside Dylan’s soul.

Willey, who played Jack Montgomery on ABC’s beloved ‘All My Children’ for many years, has fanned the rumors of his addition to Y&R’s cast. He’s also included links on his website that indicate he’ll be playing Sharon’s father. So it seems certain that Willey is smartly using the internet to promote interest in his pending arrival.

How Burton’s final scenes actually play out has yet to be fully confirmed. This famed daytime actor left Y&R with positive vibes and was in good standing, according to his employer. Therefore, it would seem wise to have Dylan disappear indefinitely rather than be confirmed dead. That type of climax would enable a smooth return plot if Burton agrees to rejoin the cast someday.

Willey’s entrance creates a different story altogether. And imagine Sharon’s shock when she eventually learns that her own father was responsible for Dylan’s end?
