Longtime fans know that Frank Barritt was played by Phil Dozois on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He was originally introduced as Cassie’s biological father (Camryn Grimes) during Sharon’s (Sharon Case) early years in the mid-1990’s.
Some Y&R rumors are suggesting that veteran soap star Trevor St. John will become Frank in 2017, which is strange because this character was previously believed to have been murdered. However, this is unconfirmed, and it may be an entirely different soap alum taking on the possible role.

St. John played Victor, Lord Junior, under the guise of Todd Manning, on ABC’s classic daytime drama ‘One Life to Live’ from 2004-2013. He’ll be assuming the role of Frank Barritt, who was previously thought to have been killed by Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby). In arc that’s set to play out, rumor has it that Frank’s twin brother Hank will be revealed as the person who died more than a decade ago.
The following is an ancient history refresher for all fans. Kirsten had a very brief relationship with Sharon in 2003. Case’s character left Genoa City during one of her wayward periods and connected with him romantically at that time. However, Cameron physically abused Sharon, who escaped from his clutches and returned to Wisconsin.
Awhile later Cameron arrived in Genoa City, purportedly to do business with Newman Enterprises. He taunted Sharon, who hadn’t told Nick about him. (At that time, ‘Shick’ was married and Cassie was alive.) Cameron wanted to have a relationship with Sharon, who made him believe she would do as he wished. However, after meeting him in a hotel room, she knocked him over the head with a bottle and assumed he was dead.
During this time period, Frank (as then played by Dozois) was written back into the story many years after his last appearance in the 1990’s. He was attempting to gain visitation rights to his daughter Cassie. He, like Sharon, had no idea Mariah (eventually to be played by Grimes as well) was alive at that time. Frank was later found dead and Sharon became the prime suspect, though evidence cleared her thereafter.

Cameron wasn’t killed by Sharon, as she thought. While playing dead he orchestrated Frank’s murder and framed Sharon. Nick, now knowing what Cameron had previously done to his wife, joined Sharon in a fight against this heinous character. ‘Shick’ eventually brought him to justice. Cameron was arrested and taken to jail in 2004. Considering developments in early 2017, maybe Ashby will reprise his role as well?
