Daniel Hall (Scott) was hired to play Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) son on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Looking more deeply into Y&R’s recent decision and the role that Hall’s character is now playing, it’s reasonable to conclude that he’s filled what was an open cast slot. Scott also appears to have filled Adam’s (Justin Hartley) spot in Genoa City in an unequal way.

No, they are hardly the same type of person. And, unless he proves to be Victor’s (Eric Braeden) son, Scott hasn’t arrived as a disguised Newman. More on that plausible soapy point later.
Adam’s connections have been, or are being resolved. After a lengthy lead-in, his wife Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) released the past and has paired with Nick (Joshua Morrow).
And, the mystery that was left purposely unresolved by Y&R’s last writing regime is currently being resolved. How was Adam killed?
Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) did something to Adam. Either she darted him in the cabin last September and caused the cabin to explode, or she faked his death and is holding him hostage. Yes, there are a variety of other options. But those two choices are clear.
Hendrickson’s rumored contract end date is suspected to arrive before summer. So Nick’s current Sherlock Holmes mode will push Paul (Doug Davidson) to confirm some facts soon. Prior to, or when that happens Chloe will be exposed. However, her latest Genoa City write-out doesn’t have to coincide with Adam being found alive, or even seen on screen in a new flashback sequence.

Meanwhile, Scott has agreed to research Victor’s life and co-author his autobiography. That move effectively inserts Scott into the ‘Moustache’s’ realm, replacing the hole where Adam was. Unless, of course, it’s been decided that Victor is the unknown father of Lauren’s child. But that would ridiculously rewrite Genoa City history. Yet even in that bizarre instance, Adam still would have been supplanted.
So the speculative point isn’t that Scott is a new type of Adam. It’s that Hall has filled a long-term cast slot that was previously filled by Hartley. There are a limited number of dollars in daytime and until a major male character leaves, the Adam character seems likely to remain missing, or assumed as deceased.
