The Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Will Y&R Create Hevon Sequel?

This question about ‘The Young and the Restless’ is very direct. Will executive producer and head writer Mal Young and his team write a sequel to ‘Hevon’? To be clear, the issue isn’t whether certain segments of the audience want the proposed reunion to happen, or not to happen. Instead, do Y&R fans believe it will?

As viewers have seen in recent weeks, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) came clean with Devon (Bryton James) and ended their relationship in a tactful way. She recently told her mom, Sharon (Sharon Case), that Devon was and remains a friend and should likely have always been just that.

So ‘Mevon’ is over and there appears to be no chance of that couple’s revival. This development means that Devon currently has no romantic partner.

Meanwhile Hilary (Mishael Morgan) has been battling with her now former boyfriend Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood). Unlike the kindhearted characters that comprised ‘Mevon’, Hilary has been nasty toward her ex. Jordan has also allowed himself to sink to her level in response.

There may have been some Genoa City residents who questioned whether Devon held any blame for ‘Hevon’ Part I’s breakup. All of those suspicions should be laid to rest now, as it’s obvious that Devon and Jordan were drawn into Hilary’s maelstrom.

Hardcore Y&R fans also haven’t forgotten how Hilary treated Neil (Kristoff St. John) when she was married to him. Though to be fair, Devon betrayed his adopted father in that instance as well.

The result of Hilary exposing Jordan’s past means that she’s alone again, naturally. Yes, the last three words in that sentence were a wink at Gilbert O’Sullivan’s 1973 Grammy Award-nominated, number 1 song. Y&R debuted that year, as savvy daytime drama fans know.

So the soapy setup has been established. As the Christmas season rolls, Devon and Hilary are single. They’ve been consoling each other recently and Devon also tellingly came to Hilary’s defense during one of her verbal confrontations with Mr. Wilde.

Hevon again, naturally? That is the question.
