Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jack (Peter Bergman) are waging a bitter sibling war on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jack disavowed himself from his brother after ‘Phack’ was supplanted by ‘Philly’. Billy is now using Jack’s aged mother as part of a business payback plan. Among those and various other factors, which side are readers on?
Billy and Phyllis (originally embodied by Michelle Stafford) once hated each other. Seasoned viewers were able to eventually see that the characters Billy Miller and Stafford once portrayed were played forward by Thompson and Gina Tognoni (who currently plays Phyllis). Then, as their version took hold the nature of a Billy-Phyllis union became plausible.

Jack lives within Genoa City’s fictional reality. So he never saw any differences in Billy or Phyllis. That’s why he assigned full blame for that relationship forming to those parties, rather than taking any himself. In his mind and gut, the Marco (also played by Bergman) arc never should have resulted in ‘Phack’s’ demise. Yet it did and Jack holds Billy most responsible in that regard.
Time has passed since ‘Philly’ formed. It’s not possible to know exactly how much according to the soap calendar. Let’s assume it’s been years, which then leads us to Billy’s current response.
Billy apologized umpteen times to Jack. Then, at times, he tried to distance himself from his brother. Along with other actions, nothing worked. He had enough and is now responding creatively.

Fighting back on a business level, by going after Jabot, allows Billy a punch back path. He swallowed many of his brother’s insults and now wants to proactively release that pent up angst. Fighting for Brash and Sassy, using Jack-like tactics enables Billy to do that.
Eternal strife isn’t desired if truth be told. Reconciliation is the preferred outcome, but there’s no direction to that soft spot right now.
Based on personality, some may act like a politician who’s up for reelection and takes no stance on this poll question, says that both men are to blame or punts the football in some other way. As for all others, they will choose Team Billy or Team Jack.
