The Young and the Restless News: Tamara Clatterbuck Talks Alice Johnson’s Return

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers revealed that Alice Johnson (Tamara Clatterbuck) returned after 15 years. It was kept a secret from the fans, something that is extremely difficult to do nowadays.

Tamara explained to CBS Soaps In Depth that Y&R gave her the script and told not to tell anyone she was back. They wanted to shock the viewers. She recalled they made her wear a big hat and huge sunglasses when coming and going from the CBS studio. Clatterbuck stated that they used a fake name in the script, just to make sure no one told anyone that she was back on the show.

Clatterbuck recalled feeling the pressure to keep the Y&R secret. She stated it was hard to do since Alice was involved in some very exciting storylines. She didn’t even tell her family.

It had been 15 years since Alice had been on the canvas. The Young and the Restless fans were happy to see her but were also thrilled to see where it could lead. Clatterbuck stated that she was happy when she got the call from Y&R and asked her to return to take part in the sex trafficking storyline. She remembered that she took all of two seconds to say that she’d be happy to come back.

Even though it has been over a decade since Tamara played Alice, she had no issues stepping back into the role. She explained that Alice is the same person she was when Cassie (Camryn Grimes) was a youngster, she just wants to be loved by those around her.

The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that Tamara knew how to play Alice, but was grateful for executive producer, Mal Young for making time to chat with her about her alter ego, Alice Johnson.

Clatterbuck said that most of the time the EP doesn’t make time to chat about the direction of the storyline, so for her, that was extra special. Another highlight of her Y&R return was seeing Camryn Grimes as Mariah. She said she is still that bright, smart little girl that had so much raw acting talent.
