The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that plenty of changes are ahead now that Mal Young is at the helm. The television producer is not only the new head script writer, but he also promises to make some sweeping changes to the series while also giving viewers what they want: and that’s a major cliffhanger in an upcoming storyline.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Mal promises that he will “clean up” the Y&R by throwing out the old and bringing in the new. With that being said though, he promises not to make any substantial cuts to the cast. Instead, he wants to fine-tune the soap and make it the highly-rated series that it once was. Mal said that after 45 years, the soap is in definite need of some change.
He also told the publication that he wants the show to move in real time. He plans on setting up a big cliffhanger on Friday. And if it’s Monday in real time for the viewers, he wants it to be Monday on the show, too.
As far as the cast, he’s not letting go of anyone just yet. Instead, he wants to work with the cast that he currently has and give each character equal time on screen. Mal also added that he won’t be introducing any new characters in the near future. He also said that a lot of the characters don’t get the love and attention that they deserve.
If that weren’t enough, Mal also said that ridiculous storylines will soon be a thing of the past. He wants to bring storytelling back and make the characters more relatable for the show’s fans.
