The Young and The Restless Jensen Buchanan Sentenced To Jail Time

Former The Young and the Restless and General Hospital star Jensen Buchanan will be spending the next year in jail. New reports indicate that the soap opera actress has been sentenced to one year in prison and five years of probation for a DUI car crash from May of 2016.

An emotional Buchanan plead guilty to driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.08. For several long months her defense team battled with Deputy District Attorney Jon Kawashima to keep her out of jail, especially considering that she has no criminal history. Nevertheless the prosecution sought jail time with Judge James Voysey explaining, “this wasn’t an easy decision to make.”

Back in October of 2016, Buchanan reportedly crossed the double yellow line on the highway and slammed head-on into a man named Bradley Asolas, who suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Bradley Asolas and his wife Sandy sat in the courtroom for the first time, pleading for the judge to give Buchanan the maximum prison sentence. His injuries included a shattered pelvis and femur, broken humerus and ulna, fractured ribs, injured spine, and internal bleeding from lacerations to his spleen, pancreas and liver. Prior to the accident, Asolas led an active lifestyle, hiking, running and working out. He says that he crash left him with emotional post-traumatic distress and that he was also suffering from long-term physical and financial problems.

So far Jensen Buchanan herself has not made any public comments about the case. Yet she did tell Asolas during the case, “You may never want to see me again, but I want you to know if you ever do want to see or talk to me, I’m here. If you want to yell at me, curse at me, pray with me, I’m here.”
