The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: J.T. Decision to Stay In Genoa City Impacts Newman Family

Fans of ‘The Young and Restless’ knew that J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) wasn’t going anywhere. The actor previously advised that he would be part of the cast until at least February, or March 2018. His character’s decision to remain in Genoa City will make a short- and possibly a long-term impact on the Newman family.

By family, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) are specifically being referenced. Vickie has done a good job in handling Reed’s typical teenage issues to-date. But his latest run-in with the law should be addressed by both of his parents working in tandem.

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was called over to talk with her grandson. That was a smart move on Vickie’s part. Reed listened to Nikki’s wise words about the dangers of alcohol.

The genetic tendency issue Nikki raised was particularly compelling on The Young and Restless. Is Reed simply exploring what his peer group believes to be cool, or has he begun to exhibit traits that lie within his body chemistry? It’s impossible to know. Hopefully someday medical progress will allow Genoa City residents to answer this type of question with certainty.

Reed stands at a point in his life where his music talent could lead to future success. But he will benefit from consistent guidance from his parents, along with education and experience if he hopes to position himself toward a career in the entertainment industry. Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) mentoring and Devon’s (Bryton James) assistance could also prove key in this regard on The Young and Restless.

It’s easy to leap from J.T. staying in town to seeing him and his former wife reconnect romantically. Considering J.T.’s recent comments about being separated from Mackenzie (last played by Clementine Ford) and Vickie’s single status, it’s certainly plausible that J.T.V. could reform.

Connected to on-screen possibilities is the fact that Heinle and Luckinbill seem to have no issues working with each other. Hardcore soap fans know that this off-screen couple was married for many years, have children and unexpectedly announced their divorce earlier this year.

Whether the Hellstrom’s reunite is the deeper issue. For now, Y&R fans will see how Reed responds to his dad’s renewed presence in his life and what might eventually be rekindled between his parents.
