Steve Burton Admits Troubles On Y&R Set – Glad To Be Back Home At General Hospital

Steve Burton is back on General Hospital much to the delight of his fans but according to the actor, his time at The Young and the Restless didn’t go very smoothly. Steve, who played Dylan McAvoy, says that his time spent at the soap was quite stressful because of certain circumstances.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Steve – who now plays Jason Morgan on General Hospital – admits that while everything was great in the beginning, the show’s scheduling demands began to take a toll on him. Also, he says that Dylan’s storyline became a challenge for not only him, but the writers and the soap’s production crew.
He explained, “With Y&R, they were very generous with the schedule when I first started. They were awesome to work around my schedule, which doesn’t happen often, so I was super-grateful, but production needs to tell a story and when you’re working around a guy, or you can’t work him a certain day, it becomes a thorn in the side of people.”

And that’s when Steve realized that it was time for a change and that he needed to return to his General Hospital roots. That’s why he The Young and the Restless.
The actor added, “That’s just the bottom line. It never got contentious or anything, and I flew back and forth pretty much every week for four years. I was just like, ‘Maybe it’s time. It’s time to be home for a little while.’ It was a great run, a great four years for me, but it was time.”
