DAYS OF OUR LIVES
NBC’s DOOL dropped 46,000 total viewers ending with 2,153,000 people and losing 22,000 women between the ages of 18-49, leaving them with 342,000 in this group. It was a pretty quiet week in Salem as several people prepare for the impending weddings for both Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) and Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) and their best friends, Abigail Deveraux (Marci Miller) and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). A little pre-nuptial meeting at the church, resulting in chaos as drunken Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) blurted out some hateful words towards his former son-in-law, Sonny. It is a bit surprising that ratings didn’t pick up with the return of Will Horton (Chandler Massey), even though it was only in ghost form!
GENERAL HOSPITAL
ABC’s GH failed with total viewership, down 33,000 viewers from the previous week, leaving the soap opera with 2,429,000 total viewers; which also means they lost 27,000 views among women 18-49, leaving the show with 387,000 in this viewer group. It could have been several things that turned fans off from the ABC soap opera, mainly because we continue to watch Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorken) struggle to maintain their “Ask Man Landers” façade. Anna Devan (Finola Hughes) blackmailing a grieving Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) was painful to watch and Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford) seems to take Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) dastardly ways in stride as Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) re-ignites his obsession with Jason Morgan (Billy Miller).
THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
CBS’ B&B gained 91,000 viewers in total viewership leaving the soap opera with 3,582,000 fans, and also rose in the women 18-49 viewership as well with +19,000 totaling at 377,000. Maybe it was the fact that fans saw Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) rise to the occasion and blackmail his father, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), forcing him to resign and is now paying back everyone for all the evil things Bill has committed; namely giving Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) her dream on a golden platter. Unfortunately, in the love department, Sally was blown away when Thomas Forrester (Pierson Fode) announced he was ending things with her and staying with Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey) and their son, Douglas.
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
CBS’ Y&R dropped the most when it came to total viewership, losing 56,000 compared to last week, but still leaving them at the top with 4,354,000 total viewers. Like their sister soap opera CBS’ B&B, the daytime drama gained 10,000 among women aged 18-49, totaling 474,000 in the same category. Could the possible reunion of Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) be drawing people in or the total destruction of the Newman family be splitting fans on the way stories are playing out? A lot of warnings were issues this week, between Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) and Billy Abbott as well as between Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and his son, Noah (Robert Adamson).
How do you feel about all the storylines that happened this week and how would you rate each daytime soap opera? Please let us know!
