NBC’s DOOL managed to be the only one out of the four daytime soap operas to gain in total viewership this week going up 19,000 and totaling with 2,398,000. It rose by 7,000 among women aged 18-49 as well. All around it was a good week for Days of Our Lives! Will (Chandler Massey) learned this past week what it truly meant to have Sami (Alison Sweeney) as his mother, when she went to the extremely insane measure of having his would-be killer, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) reenact those dreadful murder scenes. Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) finally realizes that his son, Will is truly alive. Ciara (Victoria Konefal) makes her grand return, and some aren’t too pleased to see her. It looks like things are about to get really interesting in Salem!
ABC’s GH took a drastic hit in ratings this week in both total viewerships, where it has a massive drop of 113,000 in total viewership and now sits at 2,691,000. General Hospital is the only soap opera this week that dropped in women viewers between the ages of 18-49; and it was fairly significant, losing 38,000 from the week before. One has to wonder if the revelation that Jason (Steve Burton) and Drew Caine (Billy Miller) were identical twins was too much, or the fact that Sam (Kelly Monaco) chose to stand by Drew, giving Jason the cold shoulder, has irked longtime fans of the couple. Griffin (Matt Cohen) continues to rescue Ava (Maura West) from being her own worst enemy. Sonny (Maurice Benard) pressures Dr. O (Kathleen Gati) for some answers regarding the “mapping”, will the mad scientist” give the mobster the answers her is looking for, or send him on another wild goose chase?
CBS’ B&B also struggled greatly this week when it fell in total viewership by 80,000; although the good news is that it gained 5,000 among women aged 18-49. Could it be the return of Thorne Forrester, who is now portrayed by Ingo Rademacher, that has piqued fans’ interest? Thorne has returned with a new confidence and edge to him. He is no longer allowing Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) push him around, nor dominate the family business. The dirty little secret of Bill (Don Diamont) and Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) illicit night together, has been eating away at Steffy; but he warns her to not reveal it to her his son (her husband), is their affair the only thing Steffy has to worry about especially since Liam (Scott Clifton) feels a connection with her arch-rival Sally (Courtney Hope)?
CBS’ Y&R lost 57,000 in total viewers last week, leaving them still at number one with 4,485,000 in total viewership. They CBS soap opera did, however, gain 22, 000 in women viewers 18-49. Nick (Joshua Morrow) investigates the fire that happened at the Underground and then questions Paul (Doug Davidson) about it. Victoria (Amelia Heinle) settles in at Newman, but it’s not without some major bumps. Hilary (Mishael Morgan) gets a taste of her own medicine when Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) posts revenge porn of her on her own GC Buzz website. Lily (Christell Khalil) and her children rally around Cane (Daniel Goddard) and infant Sam when they need it the most.
Its been a busy week for all four daytime dramas and has been filled with excitement and some very emotional moments. How do you feel about all the stories that happened this week and how would you rate all of the daytime soap operas? Please let us know what you think!
