Neighbours Spoilers: Ross Wilson Joins Soap Cast

It was a family affair on the set of Neighbours this week, as Olympia Valance was filming with her real-life step-father Ross Wilson.

A big celebrity in Australia, Ross is best known for his work as a musician – and his musical achievements have not gone left unnoticed! He has been the frontman for two successful rock groups Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool, and has produced many records for other artists too. His success in the music field has earned him induction into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) hall of fame not once, but twice – a huge achievement!

Ross was brought into the show to film a cameo appearance, meeting step-daughter Olympia’s loved character Paige Smith. Unfortunately, it seems that Ross’ aforementioned achievements are lost on Paige, who has no idea who Ross is or what an impact he has had on Australian music. As a result, Ross is forced to list all his achievements to Paige, who still goes on to question his musical success.

Talking of the fun family scene, Olympia explained, “I thought it was hilarious when I read the script and couldn’t wait to tell mum. It was really nice to have Ross there for the final week of filming for the year, end on a laugh.”

The storyline featuring Ross will also include feisty favourite Sheila Canning and her returning love interest Clive Gibbins, played by Collette Mann and Geoff Paine. Of course, observant viewers will know that this week’s storyline included a distinct reference to Ross’ band Daddy Cool by Sheila.

Does this mean that she will finally get to see the singer, after being unable to get tickets in her teenage years? Of the story line Collette laughed, adding, “Oh, the disrespect. Unlike Olympia, I certainly know who Ross is and have been a fan for many years.”

As the scenes were filmed in the last week, Ross’ cameo will air in March – so avid viewers and Ross fans be on the lookout!
