It’s been around a week since the last episode of Neighbours 2017 aired, so perhaps now is the right time to reflect on the roller coaster finale episode.
It was full of love, friendship, heartbreak, baby-snatching and murderous confessions – quite the Christmas day in Erinsborough!
With Louise McLeod out of the frame for killing Hamish, the knowledge of knowing that Tyler is the only remaining suspect was weighing heavy on Piper. She eventually gave in and came clean to her boyfriend, who immediately felt the he must do the ‘right thing’. Though Mark was dead set again it, Tyler went to the police station and admitted that he hit Hamish with the gnome on the night of the crime.

We know that Tyler stopped filming in October, but this is only a temporary break. So what does this mean? Was Tyler in fact innocent, and will eventually be released from jail? Fans certainly think that is the case.
The same day, Sonya and Toadie’s Christmas party was actually a cover for a vow renewal, much to the surprise of Toadie. Plans had been threatened when his mother Angie turned up and found out about the event, but after some stern words from Dipi she gave their relationship her blessing. The return off Willow topped the day off and the couple – surrounded by family and friends – had a love-filled day.
However, little did they know that passing in a taxi was Andrea, or Dee, or… someone else? We’ll find out for definite in the New Year, but producer Jason Herbison has promised that a fantastic storyline will unfold. As Eve Morey (Sonya) is pregnant in real life, will Andrea have something to do with Sonya’s temporary departure? Whatever happens, it’s sure to be an exciting time for viewers!
Though Steph and Amy’s friendship has been a little rocky recently, Christmas brought them together again. When Lynn revealed that she was feeling lonely, Steph knew it was only right to go back with her to Bendigo for the rest of the festive season. As Jack was going to be busy at the backpackers, he couldn’t fully cover work at The Flame Tree. So instead he made a suggestion – how about someone who knew the retreat from the beginning… How about Amy? Steph asks and Amy agrees, and there restarts their beautiful friendship!

Elsewhere in Amy’s family, Paul confessed that he caused David and Leo’s eviction notice. David was all ready to move in with Aaron, until Paul declared that he had bought the penthouse next door and knocked through so they can live as one happy family. It’s all that David has ever wanted, and when he sees his family enjoying Christmas together he decides to move into the penthouse. Poor Aaron – will this put a strain on their relationship? Spoilers show that David proposes in the New Year, but Aaron flees the scene. Is this why?
And finally, the most shocking scenes of the episode involved baby Gabe. On the way to the medical centre his pram rolled towards a reversing car, but thankfully Paige pulled the pram away in time. Yet when she looked in the pram it was empty – Gabe had been kidnapped! Luckily, we know that Gabe is found safe and returns to his family eventually, but it’s going to be quite an ordeal in next year’s Neighbours!
