Neighbours Christmas Schedule: Aussie Soap Going Off The Air For A Month

For the last time in Neighbours history, the soap will be off air over the upcoming festive period.

Finishing with a Christmas cliff hanger, the final episode of the year will air on Friday 8^th of December. After a four-week break, the Neighbours schedule will return to normal in the New Year, on Monday 8^th of January.

Although four weeks may sound like a long time, fans can rejoice knowing that this will be the last time they must endure a Christmas break. As reported, from 2018 Neighbours will be promoted to an all-year-round soap, taking the episode count from 240 to 258 annually. If this isn’t exciting enough, there will also be additional special episodes on top!

During last year’s Christmas break fans were still able to maintain their Neighbours-fix. Courtesy of the Neighbours official Facebook and YouTube pages, viewers were treated to 25 special online-exclusive webisodes. Ranging between one and two minutes each, these webisodes gave a small insight into what the beloved Ramsay Street residents got up to over Christmas.

The webisode story lines picked right up where Neighbours left off, but viewing was not necessary to understand the over-all story line of the show (to the relief of those viewers who are not able to access the videos online). One such storyline was Tyler and Piper’s secret romance, with the couple exploring the early stages of their relationship. And of course, who can forget the brilliant Christmas day message direct from the Queen of Ramsay Street herself, Sheila Canning!

Will we see the return of a Christmas web series? Neighbours are not lacking with their online content this year (for example the upcoming Halloween Special, the 4-part ‘Mrs Robinson’ series, and the return of Neighbourshood), so the possibility is very likely!
