“DOOL” actor Drake Hogestyn who plays John Black on the popular Daytime Soap is celebrating a birthday today. (September 29, 2017) In celebration of his birthday, we decided to compose 10 fun things you need to know about Drake!
Drake was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 29, 1953 as Donald Drake Hogestyn.
Drake had no plans to be an actor he wanted to become a Dentist and was also in fact a talented baseball player. Drake signed with the Yankees and played third base for one of their farm teams until he was injured in 1978.
Drake has been on “Days Of Our Lives” on and off for 31-years.
Drake graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa on a baseball scholorship.
Drake married his childhood sweetheart Victoria. The couple have four children: three daughters, Whitney, Alexandra and Rachael; and one son, Ben.
Drake’s nickname is Hoagie.
Drake’s favorite book is The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum.
Drake’s hobbies include surfing, snowboarding and working on his vintage cars.
Drake is a huge fan of Bruce Lee and is a practitioner of Jeet Kune Do the style of martial arts Lee developed.
Drake entered a national talent search Columbia Pictures was conducting. He entered, along with 75,000 others, and ended up being one of 30 people selected. A few weeks later, Hogestyn headed to Los Angeles, where he signed a contract with Columbia.
