General Hospital Spoilers: The Reasons Emily Scout is the Perfect Name

General Hospital (GH) spoilers remind us that when Jason (Billy Miller) and Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) first shared with their son, Danny that they were having another baby; he immediately wanted to name the baby “Scout”.

Some GH fans scoffed at the name, saying how silly and odd it was, while others thought it was cute and a great nickname. Scout is actually the perfect name for a member of the Morgan family.

When Danny was first born, there was no doubt in their minds that they were going to name the baby after Sam’s brother, Daniel who had passed away. This seems to be tradition in most families still to this day, to name at least one of your children after an elderly or deceased family member.

Since General Hospital wanted to keep us fans in suspense about the gender of the baby, this name was the perfect choice, keeping us guessing until her traumatic entrance in the snowy grass at the bottom of a bridge.

It only seemed fitting that GH’s Jason’s first born daughter would be named after his beloved sister, Emily Quartermaine (then-Natalia Livingston) who was murdered in 2007. So the parents proudly named her Emily Scout, but they will be calling her “Scout”.

The name Scout reminds you of someone who is a wanderer, someone who craves adventure, someone who is always looking for answers. Her name is a definite split between her parents; let’s just hope as she grows up she doesn’t go through nearly half of what they have.

One of General Hospital’s writers, Anna Cascio had it right when she said that Sam was never a girly-girl. Think about it, how many times have you seen her in a dress, other than when she is attending a wedding or being a bride?
