General Hospital Spoilers: Frank Valentini Talks Steve Burton’s Return – Promises Arrival Will Bring New Romance And Adventure!

Steve Burton’s return to General Hospital can’t come soon enough for fans of the hit ABC soap, and the latest info we have for you doesn’t get any more real than this. In a recent interview with Michael Fairman, GH’s executive producer Frank Valentini dished some inside intel on Stone Cold’s homecoming, and we’ve got the details.

If there’s been a bigger bombshell to hit the Daytime Emmy-winning drama series in recent memory, I don’t know what it is. The soap has been making lots of news lately, with a switch up in co-head writers and the contract status of other actors, but Burton’s decision to return to the role that made him famous is epic.

Burton spent nearly 20 years on the super sudser, and when he left fans were beside themselves. They watched Burton transform from a fresh-faced Quartermaine doctor-wannabe into a Morgan mob assassin. Even for soaps the storyline was incredible, and of course, imminently watchable.

Life went on A.B. (After Burton) both in Port Charles and in viewers’ lives but it wasn’t the same. Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) need Spock-like Jason to balance out their passionate impulses, and fans need those baby blues to root for!

So when the news broke that Burton is coming home after a three year stint as Dylan on CBS soap The Young and the Restless, the Richter Scale registered the tremors. What does Valentini reveal about Burton’s return? Well, we guarantee you that it won’t be vanilla flavored!

Valentini promised that Burton’s arrival will affect the canvas in a big way. “In regards to his return … it changes the paradigm, and changes the dynamic of the show.” It sounds like fans can expect a grand, soapy storyline, one worthy of Burton’s talents.

Valentini also confirmed that Burton’s story has been developed and is in place. Will it be a real, faux, or evil-twin Jason plot? Valentini didn’t spill any secrets, but he did divulge that we can expect the return to, “create a lot more romance, a lot more intrigue, a lot more adventure, and all the stuff that you want from the show.” Just like you, I can’t wait!
