Up until this point, fans knew General Hospital star Billy Miller best as his character Jason Morgan. But that all changed the moment Patient Six (Steve Burton) arrived to Port Charles, causing nothing but confusion, havoc and drama in the twin memory swap debacle. Now that it’s been established that Steve’s character is the real Jason Morgan while Billy is Drew Cain, the actor is opening up about the on screen switch for the first time.
In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, Billy breaks his silence on Steve Burton’s comeback and the decision to develop a new character for him. And according to Billy, he wouldn’t be where he is today if he didn’t think the storyline was right.
He said, “I wouldn’t stick around if it wasn’t really cool.” Billy also said that he was pretty surprised at the backlash from fans who thought the switch was disrespectful to him. A lot of people couldn’t believe that Billy’s Jason Morgan was being given back to Steve Burton. He added quite simply, “I wouldn’t be there if I was being disrespected.”
What’s more, Billy’s on-screen wife Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam, was also quite surprised to see Steve Burton back on set. “It’s the last thing that I, Kelly, expected,” she admits. “But I’m super-excited to have Steve back.”

Right now Drew Cain is trying to come to terms with his new identity. He’s also just found out that he has a teenage son, Oscar. Meanwhile, Jason Morgan and Sonny (Maurice Benard) are trying to get to the bottom of this whole twin memory map scandal by finding the mastermind behind this ordeal. Jason is hoping that Drew will be able to help them.
