There are a few General Hospital (GH) actresses that truly deserve to win a Daytime Emmy for their performances in 2016, some of their performances are unforgettable. Who would you vote for as the actress most deserving an award for the past year?
There is no doubt in our minds that Laura Wright who portrays Carly Corinthos is very high on the list. Laura gave us a gut wrenching performance when her son, Morgan (Bryan Craig) died in an explosion. Her venomous hatred for her husband, Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) business choices and her love for him was hard to watch with dry eyes.
Laura Wright really showed us how diverse Carly is between struggling for her marriage and falling into her ex-husband, Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) arms for solace. She did an outstanding job tugging at our heartstrings.

General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn was fantastic this past year, especially with her daughter, Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) who admitted to loving a woman and how confused she was over her sexuality. Nancy allowed us to see another side to Alexis that we don’t see very often, with her fighting within herself over loving and hating Julian Jerome (William DeVry). Her fall from grace was epic and fighting a losing battle with her demons. Anyone who watches GH cannot help but feel sorry for her as she hits rock bottom.
Maura West plays the one character, everyone loves to hate, Ava Jerome. Her pain when she learned Morgan died was intense and really struck a cord with viewers. Maura has really proven that Ava is a strong character and can dance with the best of them.
In 2016, Ava may have done things fans cannot forgive her for when she replaced Morgan’s bipolar medication with placebos. Fans are dying to see her face the consequences of her actions and it is clear that Maura West is doing an incredible job to bring out such passion in fans. She may just be the one who takes the Emmy home again this year.

Finola Hughes has been portraying the role of Anna Devane off and on since 1985, and is definitely a fan favorite. When Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) died, no one was sure how Anna could come back from that. Finola’s acting was really raw between learning she hadn’t killed Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) and her hatred for the man truly responsible for Duke’s death, Julian!
She made us all feel exactly what she did when she learned that Duke had a son, Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) he would never get to know. Finola Hughes never disappoints when she is on screen and her fan base is evidence of that.
