General Hospital Maurice Benard Sets The Record Straight About His Future

General Hospital spoilers indicate that Maurice Benard is not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, the actor himself set the record straight, reassuring his fans that he is looking forward to spending many more years in Port Charles. Maurice joined the cast of General Hospital as his character Sonny Corinthos back in August of 1993.

It all began when Maurice confused fans when he shared a selfie on Twitter. He captioned his photo with, “Just got done playing a character I love. He’s a gangster, he loves his wife and family, and he has a few enemies. Can you guess?”

A lot of his fans couldn’t help but wonder if this meant that Maurice was working on other projects and had one foot out the door at General Hospital.

Maurice was forced to clarify his comments as the selfie quickly sent many of his fans in a tailspin. He wrote, “I love General Hospital. I love Sonny. Love the people. Really want to be here for my 25th anniversary.”

Aside from General Hospital, Maurice has been keeping busy with different films in the pipeline. He’s guest starred on several episodes of Castle and even had a part in the big screen movie Joy with Jennifer Lawrence. His next two movies will be the highly anticipated horror flick Nightmare Cinema and Hold On. Both are slated for release later this year.
