EastEnders Spoilers: Will Danniella Westbrook Return to the Square?

Are the EastEnders rumours true, is the beloved Sam Mitchell returning to Albert Square? Will we hear her screaming at her brother Phil once again?

Danniella has been on the soap off and on again since 1990, appearing as just a fifteen year old school girl, involved in scandalous love affairs and of course twisted up in the Mitchells’ unlawful antics.

Daniella’s most famous role was alongside Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen), the scandalous baby drama had us all at the edge of our seats for months. She returned late last year for the death of Peggy Carter leaving us all in tears as her mother was laid to rest.

But is she returning to EastEnders in 2017? Well, Danniella was caught recently sporting her iconic blonde, was she preparing for the role? Or was she just sporting a new look for her recent holiday in Marbella? She took to Snapchat to show us her new hair extensions in the glorious Spanish sunshine.

Danniella herself said this “I always, loved EastEnders. The last time I went back fans wanted me back because Sam’s a super bitch,” to The Sun Online (A popular UK news source). Which of course is true, who doesn’t love the Mitchell whirlwind, storming into everyone’s business and picking all the wrong men? She would guarantee quite a few exciting storylines, if the rumours are true.

It all sounds promising, but will her past prevent the BBC from letting her return? The actress stated that they only allow her character back for the PR boost and that her controversy with drugs and lifestyle choices still haunt her to this day.

Despite her spectacular life turn around, going from homeless to healthy, the BBC may not want to take that risk on a more permanent role. So, unfortunately we may have to be satisfied with one off appearances. But who’s to say that the Mitchells won’t get another fearsome family member back on the square in the future?
