EastEnders Spoilers: Max Branning’s Days Numbered – Jake Wood To Exit In 2018?

Have we seen the last of Max Branning (Jake Wood) on EastEnders, after placing his two daughters in danger due to his own suicidal actions? The unscrupulous schemer has done a lot of bad things, but will killing his kids rank at the top of the list?

And if so, how can Mad Max ever be redeemed? His portrayer has always had Max’s back, throughout all of this trials and tribulations, and now is no different. According to Wood, there is always a glimmer of hope for Max!

The last we saw, Max’s daughters Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) were pleading with dear old dad to come off the ledge, despite their current estrangement.

With the full extent of Max’s yearlong sneakiness exposed for all to see, the cad felt he had nothing left to live for and so climbed to the roof of the Queen Vic, ready to fling himself into oblivion.

Who could have guessed that Abi and Lauren would try to save Max? Well the sweet girls did, but the unintended consequence was their own plunge from the roof.

Did they survive the death spiral? Wood knows but he isn’t saying!

What he is talking about is how Max can be salvaged from the ruins of his own actions. Ever the optimist, Wood maintains that Max is not irredeemable, despite the havoc he’s brought to Albert Square.

In an interview with The Metro, he says that there are plenty of roads that the writers can take with Max. Hmm.

Although he acknowledges that Max, “is a very complicated character,” he sees him acting from honest emotions.

It’s true that Max came back to town with a crooked agenda after having been falsely imprisoned for a murder that he didn’t commit. But does that exonerate his shenanigans?

According to Wood, “Sometimes a lot of the things he does, he does them the wrong way. But if you look back at why he’s doing them, it’s rooted in something that’s very real. He’s very hurt … it’s understandable why he’s doing these things. So I’ve never felt he’s gone past the point of no return.”

We shall see, won’t we EastEnders fans!
