There’s good news to report from the set of EastEnders, Jessie Wallace will reportedly reprise her role as Kat Moon in 2018.
The last we saw of Kat, she and her husband Alfie (Shane Richie) had journeyed to Ireland in order to track down her long-lost son Dermott.
Their journey transpired in the EastEnders spinoff show Redwater which aired from April to July in six episodes. When the series was effectively cancelled, viewers were left to wonder about Kat and Alfie’s fates. It was feared that EastEnders’ Kat was dead, while Alfie was about to undergo a serious surgery.

When she finally found her son, Dermott was no longer the innocent babe that Kat gave birth to. He was living in Ireland as a man of the cloth, but hiding a dark and deadly secret: he was also a killer.
In the series cliffhanger Kat and Dermott had a run in at the water and she was last seen unmoving on the ground. Fans feared the worst for both Kat and Alfie.
Would they ever return to EastEnders? Were they even alive?
Well, the good news has emerged that Wallace has reportedly been re-signed by the soap. A source has told The Sun that showrunner John Yorke has brought Wallace back to EastEnders, “and thinks Kat’s return will be a hit.”
