He’s a bad man, and a free man for now. But how much longer can Max Branning (Jake Wood) skate away from all the horrible crimes he’s committed? Apparently forever, if Jane Beale’s (Laurie Brett) current vegetative state is any indicator.
Did I mention that Mad Max is the reason behind poor Jane’s coma, as well as her son Steven’s death? Sure, Steven was a cad in his own way (like leading his loved ones to believe he had a brain tumor), but did he deserve to die a victim of Max’s revenge scheme?

Max’s latest plot involves getting revenge for being falsely imprisoned, and he intends to take over the square for starters. But when Mama Jane discovered what he was up to Max ordered Steven to get rid of her!
Last week Jane was left to die in a fire at the Beale’s restaurant. Ironically she survived, but Steven did not.
So it didn’t look good for Jane when Max appeared at her bedside. Was he there to finish her off?

When Jane woke up she was in her right mind and determined to expose evil Jake. The brave lady tried to identify Max as the perp by writing his name on a piece of paper, but the effort was too much for her and she relapsed before sealing the deal.
Jane was unable to breathe and soon went unconscious. Officials told her devastated husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt). that she may have suffered brain damage as a result.
When Ian took a moment alone to try and absorb the horrible news, ever-present Max found himself alone with the patient. Uh oh!
How far would Max go to silence his witness? All the way! Seeking to end Jane’s life Max tried to tamper with her medical apparatus.
