‘EastEnders’ Spoilers: Ian Lavender Returns To Walford as Derek Harkinson?

Is “EastEnders,” ratcheting up their star power with the return of a huge fan favorite? If a recent rumor is true, one of the show’s finest actors is about to make a return appearance!

Could Ian Lavender be set to reprise his role as loveable Derek Harkinson on the BBC One sudser? Definitely maybe!

Soap fans were last treated to Lavender’s talents during the holiday season when the, “Dad’s Army,” actor came back to Walford for the Christmas festivities. Ian had been absent from the, “EastEnders,” set for an extended time, but he blended back in perfectly.

It had been over ten years since Derek was in town, and now fans would love to see more of the genial actor. Might Derek and Pauline Fowler have more relationship ground to explore? Having these two mature actors share screen time would provide a nice balance to the antics of the show’s younger set.

Ian himself seems game to reappear on the show; after his holiday run the actor spoke positively about his experience. He enjoyed his time on set, especially the chance to interact with the friends he left behind.

So what’s set off all of the speculation about Derek’s return? A recent video featuring the white-haired gentleman has set tongues wagging.

A St. David’s Day celebration video from the show features Ian, along with several cast mates, trying to pronounce a few wily Welsh words.

His most familiar role is that of Private Pike on the classic hit, “Dad’s Army,” but he’s also appeared in other BBC shows such as, “Casualty,” and, “Keeping Up Appearances.”

If Ian does indeed make a return to Walford for St. David’s Day, BBC viewers would no doubt welcome him back with open arms.
