‘EastEnders’ News: Will Danny Dyer Become The Next Dr. Who? Fans Launch Online Campaign!

Fan love knows no bounds – just ask, “EastEnders,” fan favorite Danny Dyer (Mick Carter)! While die-hard fans of the versatile star not only adore him in their favorite BBC One soap, they’re actively campaigning for him to become the next legendary Dr. Who!

Peter Capaldi is the current Time Lord on the long-running science fiction drama, “Dr. Who.” But he’s set to depart the role at the end of this year, and someone must step into his time-travelling space boots!

“Dr. Who,” premiered in 1963 and the cult favorite is well-known to audiences around the world.

Whoever takes over the iconic role is sure to gain international exposure, and it would be a quantum career boost for Dyer.

So, will he do it? According to The Sun, Dyer is more than ready to leave Walford in his rear view mirror. “I’d be interested in it,” he said, “I could see myself in the scarf and all that … I think I could do it easy.” With his confidence, and the fans support, it sounds like it’s a done deal that he’s departed Walford (at least in his heart) and entered the fifth dimension!

In what may be an unprecedented action, the soap star’s fans are actively petitioning for him to be allowed out of his, “EastEnders” contract in order to pursue the high-profile Dr. Who role.

They have started an online petition that states, “My understanding is that Danny Dyer has a contract in EastEnders until October this year. Mr Dyer should then move into the position of the new Doctor.” I can’t remember a time when fans called for a beloved actor to be let go from a hit soap, but this is certainly a unique opportunity for Dyer—and his loyal viewers.
