Daytime Emmy Voting in Progress – Soap Stars Vie for Pre-nominations

Soap fans always love hearing about the Daytime Emmys and the excitement the award show brings. However, there’s a long process before we get to those statuettes. We have to see who makes the cut! Soap Opera Digest is reporting that all clips have been submitted and judging is in progress.

Right now, voters are trying to chop down the list of contenders. This is the pre-nomination round to see who can truly compete. They only want the best! Once voters pick their favorites, those cast members will be given pre-noms. This is the first step before securing an actual nomination.

The rule applies to entrants in four categories. Those include Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Actress, Outstanding Supporting Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actress. After viewing the submissions, voters will select 10 people to participate in Blue Ribbon voting.

That’s when we get to the full-fledged nominations. It’s worth mentioning that cast members submitting for Younger Actor and Younger Actress don’t have to go through the pre-nomination process. They head straight to the Blue Ribbon round.

As for the rest of the major acting categories, they’ll learn whether or not they’ll be moving on. The ballots must be turned in by January 23. The votes will be counted and the results will be released just two days later. January 25 should be a nail-biter for those who submitted their finest scenes!

We’ll give you updates as the battle for Daytime Emmys heats up. It should be fun to see who gets closer to taking home this prestigious award. Last year’s ceremony wasn’t televised, but there’s no news on this year’s shindig. Many daytime drama viewers are hoping we can watch the event live in 2017, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
