Coronation Street storylines are set to seriously heat up as the summer stretch continues, and the explosive, groundbreaking Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) storyline will take center stage.
Has there been a Corrie plot in recent memory that has engendered as much heated debate as this one has? The sex trafficking story involving underage Bethany and sicko Nathan (Christopher Harper) has polarized fans in record numbers.

Viewers have flocked online to air their opinions about the sickening ordeal that Bethany has been subjected to, but in turn the story has been praised for heightening social awareness of human trafficking.
Through it all fans have sat riveted watching as Nathan groomed an eager-to-please Bethany, then watched her subsequent fall into despair.
When she realized that Nathan was only pretending to be her boyfriend, the confused teen continued to go along with his demands that she have sex with his friends.
In the nick of time Bethany escaped just as Nathan was about to send her out of the country, probably never to be seen nor heard from again. Instead, with her testimony as the key evidence Nathan will now be forced into a court of law to face the music. But the drama is far from over.

The trauma of being Nathan’s victim is ongoing as Bethany must now face him in court and recount all that she has been through. She will have a number of people by her side supporting her, most significantly Craig (Colson Smith). When Bethany was finally able to admit all that had happened to her, it was understanding Craig who became her staunchest ally.
Bethany deserves justice to win out in the end, but the ordeal of reliving the experience all over again will overcome her. Will she be strong enough to see this horrible experience through to the end? Or will Nathan ultimately be set free to prey on other vulnerable young women? It remains to be seen how this controversial storyline will end.
