Coronation Street Spoilers: Shona Ramsey Leaves The Cobbles

Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) has been keeping a dreadful secret, one that ultimately results in her exit from the bucolic town, and a departure from the troubled character David.

In Weatherfield Shona has been content to work at the café, but since her arrival she’s dropped multiple clues as to her true identity. Like visiting a gravesite. Why would she do such a thing, when she apparently never know the young, vibrant woman?

When all of Weatherfield finally learns the reason, look for David to react swiftly and violently. What choice does he have when discovers that Shona is actually the mother of the man responsible for the death of his beloved wife Kylie?

David is understandably devastated, and he does not react well when Eileen and Billy ask him to try and get Shona to return.

When Shona texts them about her exit, they worry about the brunette’s wellbeing, but David can’t bring himself to call her.

Eventually he talks to his mom, Gail, about his wrecked emotional state, and spills to her that Shona was the one person who made him happy after Kylie’s death. Of course, Gail knew Shona’s secret and failed to tell her now-grieving son, which is making her guilt get the best of her.

In the end David realizes the truth, and explodes in anger, furious that his own mom kept quiet about such a life-altering truth. Was he right to be so upset, or was Gail just trying to protect him?

Expect the fallout to continue, as David’s resentment threatens to ruin his children’s relationship with their grandmother. Will the stubborn man make his mother pay a high price for her secretiveness by keeping Lily and Max from her?
