Coronation Street Spoilers: Kate Connor and Rana Nazir Affair Confirmed

Coronation Street fans who called it weeks ago can pat themselves on the back because now it’s official: Rana Nazir (Bhavna Limbachia) and Kate Connor (Faye Brooks) are set to become a couple.

The besties are in for a surprise no doubt, as Rana is married, and Kate is currently with Imogen (Melissa Johns). But before the truth about Rana’s feelings for Kate is revealed the two friends will have a bit of emotional terrain to cover.

First off Kate will come to the conclusion that Rana is actually homophobic based on her bad reaction to seeing Kate and Imogen together. Rana states that she doesn’t want Kate to be taken advantage of, but really she’s hiding her own feelings for the brunette bombshell. It was easy for Imogen to assume that Rana was simply mad about being the odd man out during the trio’s recent get-together, but eagle-eyed viewers spotted something much more intriguing happening with Rana.

Now, based on Kate’s erroneous assumption, and Rana’s own unsettling feelings, the BFF’s will put some distance between them. But not for long.

After previously teasing that Kate will be involved in a juicy and surprising new romance, Corrie exec Kate Oates has confirmed that the dalliance she referenced will be between Kate and Rana.

“We’ve got a new romance bubbling for Kate and Rana which may take a few interesting turns,” the showrunner told The Metro.

Like Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar), nurse Rana’s husband, and his reaction to his wife’s burgeoning feelings? The couple had been an off again/on again thing until they finally tied the knot late last year. Suddenly Rana’s reluctance to commit to Zeedan is understandable.

On a side note, the beautiful and lavish ceremony marked a first for the ITV super soap. It was the first time in its 56-year history that the show aired an Islamic wedding ceremony.
