Coronation Street Spoilers: Drew Dies, Billy Devastated Banned From Funeral and Summer

On “Coronation Street,” committed couple Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) were straight up shocked by the appearance of Billy’s ex, Drew Spellman. (Tom Godwin) But nothing could prepare them for his bombshell news: he has a terminal illness. But Drew’s appearance become exponentially more uncomfortable by the request he was about to make: that Billy raise his young daughter Summer.

Todd was taken in by the man’s plight, but he was very clear to Billy that he did not want to raise a child. He felt that he had no business raising a child since he had no experience or desire to do so. But Billy thought otherwise. He is Summer’s godfather, and could see no way around taking responsibility for the adorable child.

Billy agreed to become her guardian without telling Todd. When the truth was finally revealed, their relationship took a big hit. Now, things are about to go from bad to worse for all involved.

Explosive show spoilers reveal that life on the cobbles will be permanently upended by a tragic event. But before that happens, Billy and Todd take Summer to lunch. In the most delicate way possible, the two men explain what is to become of her after her father dies.

But brave Summer already knows about the guardianship plan! Unfortunately, she then overhears Todd say something about sending her away to a children’s home. What kind of person does that? But no one is prepared for what happens after Drew sadly succumbs to his illness. Everyone is devastated, but one person is determined to make the situation as wretched as possible.

Drew’s mother, Hurricane Geraldine, blows into town and blows Billy’s world apart. She bans him and Todd from attending Drew’s funeral. But her next pronouncement is especially vicious: they can never again have contact with Summer!

Billy is shattered by this sudden turn of events, and Todd can do nothing to help him. Or can he? Does he hold the key to turning Summer’s life around?
