Coronation Street Spoilers: Did Corrie Steal From EastEnders?

The Rovers Return has recently changed hands from Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) to Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) and there seems to be a bit of tension between the two men. In an upcoming argument, Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Peter will say one of EastEnders’ most famous lines.

When fans think of the iconic character Peggy Mitchell (played by Barbara Winsor) there is one line which comes to mind – “Get out of my pub.” Often screamed at the regulars of the Queen Vic. Well it has been revealed that this line is going to be used by Peter Barlow in an upcoming episode. Is this a tribute or a copycat?

Even though the words are the same a source told The Sun that “Corrie has cheekily made the line its own by giving it northern welly.” Of course, the soaps are set in completely separate parts of the UK with EastEnders being down south near London and Coronation street being set in Manchester which is up North. But how much difference can there really be? The accent is different yes but is it enough to distinguish from Peggy’s iconic role?

Will the EastEnders writers be mad that their line was stolen? Or is this made in jest, the two soaps have been in healthy competition for decades. In fact, the shows often hire actors which have been in one another’s shows. They are the two biggest soaps in the UK so some good-natured fun may lighten the mood on the cobbles. With story lines lately resolving around teen grooming and criminals it is a nice change for something with a comedic twist.
