There’s a dark storyline brewing on Coronation Street. And this one is worth knowing about. Recent images surfaced showing David Platt hiding under the cover of darkness. His prime target? Evil villain, Pat Phelan. What could possibly transpire between the two? Did Phelan finally meet his match?
According to Metro UK, “David and Phelan aren’t particularly on each other’s radar right now but that seems set to change as Jack was on location with actress Nicola Thorp, who plays Phelan’s daughter Nicola Rubenstein. In one of the captured shots picked up by photographers near to the filming, the back of what looks like Phelan’s van can be seen as David camps out in a car watching with concern.”
Oh goody good good!
Nicola is going to be pregnant with Gary Windass’ (what a peculiar last name…) baby, so Phelan might be concocting a plan. Or, as most pundits believe, David and Phelan will square off in a dramatic climax with David offing Phelan. Could the biggest villain since The Hamburglar be murdered? Will the soapie gods be this cruel to a narrative arc?
We have Bethany and Nathan squaring off in court, and now we have reason to believe that David might kill Phelan. What will happen to his victims? And will David get away with it? Coronation Street loves to tease us just enough so we don’t lose interest. It’s one of the darker soaps out there and as we’ve learned in the past, anything is possible.
Wait.
There’s another side to this coin – what if David gets killed by Phelan? Oh. My. God. Now won’t that be a massive soap shakeup? But we know that won’t happen because Jack Shepherd who plays David just inked a new deal which will see him on the Cobbles until at least December 2018. Soapies tend to keep their good guys alive, because heroes are what drive the plot. There’s no news yet on whether Phelan will get written off the show, but like I said earlier, anything is possible.

Let’s just hope Phelan doesn’t get away with another horrible deed and he is stopped once and for all!
