Alison King may finally be returning to Corrie after a long break from the soap. Carla is arguably one of the most popular characters on the show and fans are delighted that she is coming back! She has been gone since June last year after a dramatic story line with her exes Nick (Adam Rickett) and Robert (Tristan Gemmil). She left for a more peaceful life in Devon, and of course to get away from all the drama.
But her return may not be the best news for her pal Michelle (Kim Marsh) who is now dating Carla’s ex Robert. Carla and Robert have a long and painful history together and this may cause a barrier in the two’s friendship. Carla left Robert last year after choosing to be single than be with him or Nick. She left the two men heart broken. Michelle and Carla have been friends for years but can they make it through this?

Kate Oates (Corrie Producer) has said this about the two, “Their friendship is really strong, so anything that challenged it will have to feel very truthful and quite deep.” Which means that the friends will have to work through Michelle’s latest romance. But, will Carla put her friendship with Michelle first and ignore the fact that she is dating her ex?

What will prompt Carla to come back to find her friend with a less than favourable romantic companion? Carla has always been close to Roy (David Neilson) perhaps she will return for a friendly visit that goes sour? Or will there be something more dramatic in the mix? Carla is known for her loud personality and often explosive story lines. She is a past alcoholic and recently discovered that her real father was Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley), she is volatile to say the least. What will Carla think of Weatherfield after being away for more than a year?
