Coronation Street News: Wendi Peters Wants To Join EastEnders Cast

Is Wendi Peters set to join the cast of, “EastEnders?” The talented actress just went on the record to say, “I would love to be the Queen Vic landlady, I could do that famous line.” Has the Albert Square pub added a new face to its growing cast of characters? Woody Woodard is the latest arrival, and he’s proven to be quite the lady’s man. Could Peters be his next conquest?
Peters first appeared as Cilla Battersby-Brown on, “Coronation Street,” in 2003. She left in 2007 and returned for a brief appearance in 2014.

Talking to The Sun newspaper, Wendi joked that she could see herself filling the shoes of “EastEnders,” soap legend Peggy Mitchell. Dame Barbara Windsor played the iconic role, and left last year when her terminally ill character took an overdose of pills.
Peters further told the paper that she lives less than half an hour from Albert Square, scene of the Queen Vic! “I am in Hertfordshire, she said. “It would just be so ideal … A lot of musical theatre people seem to be going into it as well. So why not me?”
Adding to her insider connections, Peters is close friends with many cast members, including Bonnie Langford and Jenna Russell. “I’ve known Bonnie a long time,” she said. “My husband has worked with her. I know Jenna who has gone in now as Michelle. I know a lot of them.”
Of course, if and when Peters becomes a serious contender for a spot on the BBC One soap, she would first have to clear her busy schedule. The multi-talented actress is currently on tour in the UK in “Wonderland.”
