We don’t know yet what role she’ll play in upcoming storylines; all we know is that her presence is enough to unseat Phelan. What could it be? Does she know about a secret we’re unaware of? Does she hold the key to Phelan’s ultimate downfall? It’s likely. A villain has to have a nemesis and Mrs. McArdle, as sweet as she may be, might be Phelan’s kryptonite.

Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, recently teased: “When Daniel goes to the nursing home, that lights a fire underneath Phelan. Up until that point, Phelan just thinks he is a student writing a little piece, but when Daniel goes to the nursing home, Phelan panics.”
My Coronation Street senses are tingling. This could mean a whole new, riveting and complex narrative which could take the cobblestoned streets by storm. Can an old lady upend the masterfully evil Phelan?
