We’ve been asking the question – who is Mrs. McArdle on Coronation Street? As you’ll know, intrepid reporter Daniel Osborne led the villainous Pat Phelan to an old age home. What came across as a very placid and curious experiment, quickly turned into an unsettling nightmare for Phelan. Something about Mrs. McArdle sent him into a flat spin.
We don’t know yet what role she’ll play in upcoming storylines; all we know is that her presence is enough to unseat Phelan. What could it be? Does she know about a secret we’re unaware of? Does she hold the key to Phelan’s ultimate downfall? It’s likely. A villain has to have a nemesis and Mrs. McArdle, as sweet as she may be, might be Phelan’s kryptonite.

Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, recently teased: “When Daniel goes to the nursing home, that lights a fire underneath Phelan. Up until that point, Phelan just thinks he is a student writing a little piece, but when Daniel goes to the nursing home, Phelan panics.”
My Coronation Street senses are tingling. This could mean a whole new, riveting and complex narrative which could take the cobblestoned streets by storm. Can an old lady upend the masterfully evil Phelan?
What do you think, dear readers? Will Mrs. McArdle be the bane of Phelan’s empire? Will she bring down the worst villain in soapie history? Better yet, can Mrs. McArdle hold a golden truth so viscous that the great Phelan comes to a staggering fall? Will this lead to a brand new narrative with far-reaching consequences? So many questions and so little time. Perhaps now it’s time to watch Phelan fall, fall, fall…
