Celebrity Big Brother US spoilers reveal that Julie Chen took a huge salary cut to do the show. She revealed that for her husband, Leslie Moonves, it must make economic sense. He wanted to do #CBBUS but realized that it would cost a bit more to get the celebrities to agree to come on the show.
If you know one thing about my husband, it must make economic sense. He comes home for dinner and says in a very Godfather, mafioso-style, ‘Jules, you tell your lawyer this is not a negotiation. This is what the deal is, and you’re going to accept it.’ And I said, ‘Is that the way you speak to your wife?'” Julie Chen chuckled.
Chen said that Les told her that she could tell her attorney that this is not a game and everyone has to take a haircut to get Celebrity Big Brother US on the air. He explained that the only way it makes sense financially is if she gets LESS money as it isn’t going to be a FULL series. Apparently, the attorney he was speaking of is Les’ brother, Jon.
“You shouldn’t be expected to be paid as if it’s a full series. It’s a condensed version,'” Les told Julie.
Les’ reasoning for Julie’s salary cut is solid. Typically, Big Brother runs for 90-99 days. It has been as short as 75 days and as long as nearly 100 days. It takes over her summer, airing three days a week. Celebrity Big Brother US is expected to last anywhere between 35 to 70 days. Chen said they are still working on the details of the upcoming winter season.
