Bates Motel’s diehard fans will be excited to know that the premiere date for its final season has been revealed. The much anticipated fifth season will begin on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10 p.m. ET, which is a nice change since the previous seasons all began in March.
Over the past four seasons of Bates Motel, fans have been enthralled with the young Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore), and his odd relationship with his highly possessive mother, Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga). Norman has been slowly losing control and eventually has a psychotic break landing him in a psychiatric facility in season 4.

The most recent season we witnessed Norma changing and getting away from Norman. She married Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) admitting that she loved him, something Norman couldn’t handle when he found out, and ended up killing his beloved mother in a murder-suicide plot gone horribly wrong.
On the finale, we watched as Norman dug up his mother’s remains and brought her body back to their home. Spoilers have revealed that even though Norma is dead, she is not gone. It appears Norman has lost all touch with reality and his mother is very much alive for him still.
Last season had been a pivotal one for everyone involved with the Bates family. Dylan Massett (Max Thieriot) paid for Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke) to have her lung transplant and they became a couple deciding to move away from his deranged family. It will be interesting to see how Norman copes with his brother, and step-father; since none of their characters were in the original movie. Do any of them survive?

Bates Motel season 5 will bring us to the same time frame as Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 movie Psycho. As we have previously reported, Rhianna will be playing the role of the ill-fated, Marion Crane. Marion Crane was originally played by actress Janet Leigh, who became famous for the iconic shower scene where Norman Bates kills her.
Executive Producer Carlton Cuse has assured fans that although the final season will be a lot closer to Psycho, the story line may not be exactly as we all remember it. He promises that the end result will be very similar, but how they get there will be different and told in the same fashion the whole series has been.
