‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R) Spoilers: Can Dr Neville’s Love Save Ashley from Death?

‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Ashley Abbott [Eileen Davidson] has lost confidence in the treatment protocol that Dr Simon Neville [Michael E Knight] has developed for her terminal brain ailment.

It certainly can’t help her hopes for the future now that Hilary Curtis [Mishael Morgan] found her passed out at her desk and blackmailed her out of her job at the research project – the very project that was started to try and save her life.

Neville threatened to walk out with Ashley but she demanded that he not give up his research. But when Ashley’s health takes another nosedive, Neville wants to run some tests so he can tweak his treatment regimen to help her.

Ashley will shock the doc when she tells him she’s wants to stop the treatments. The pharmaceutical protocol has some serious side effects that frustrate Ashley and she feels like her quality of life is so low that life may not be worth living.

With Abby Newman [Melissa Ordway] pregnant, Ashley wants to make the most of the life she has left while still keeping the secret of her illness from her child. Ashley will tell Neville that a life like this is not what she wants – weak, exhausted and passing out.

Ashley not only wants Neville to let her die, but she may even ask him to help her die. Neville will refuse on both counts – and for a couple of reasons. First, Neville is a bit of an egotist and the idea that his genius can’t cure Ashley is insulting to him.

Neville sees himself as the smartest medical mind around and infallible to some extent. Ashley’s presumption that he can’t cure her is something he can’t accept. Second, we know Neville has a thing for Ashley.

The eccentric doc will likely never get a shot at someone that hot again, so saving her means a lot to him personally. But it’s not just Ashley’s looks that do it for Neville. He genuinely likes her on a personal level and is falling for her more every day.

Will Neville be able to woo Ashley back to life? Is his love strong enough to restore her will to live? Would Neville secretly keep treating Ashley without her permission? After all, we know the doc doesn’t mind stepping outside ethical boundaries if he feels a life is at stake…
