‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Victor Drops Dracula Persona – Tells Chelsea Compassion is Best

It must have been a full Halloween moon on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) took his fangs out, dropped the Dracula garb and behaved like a human being. After Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) told him that Christian was still alive, the ‘Dark Knight’ responded with compassion.

Instead of urging Chelsea wife to seek custody of Christian, Victor advised his daughter-in-law to maintain secrecy. Yes, they believe that this boy is Adam’s (most recently played by Justin Hartley) biological child. But considering all that Nick (Joshua Morrow) has endured during the last year, Victor believes it’s best to allow his still-living son to raise Christian as his own child because knowing the real truth would do more harm than good.

Possibly, the mole who’s been feeding financial information to Jack (Peter Bergman), Curtis Fielding (Bradley Snedeker), slipped a mickey in Victor’s tequila? Maybe the festive Halloween atmosphere infected the mind of the ‘Moustache’? With whatever overcame him, Victor was sincere when he evidenced compassion earlier this week on Y&R.

Then, a follow-up scene hinted at something beyond the script. Victor spoke to the framed photo of Adam that’s on his executive desk. This still-grieving father told the image of the son he believes is deceased that he was glad Adam’s children are still here on Earth.

Hartley voluntarily left his role as Adam in the summer. His final filmed scenes played out a few months ago. However, Y&R has continued showing Hartley’s image through photographs or in flashback sequences. This might indicate that the door remains open for him to return to the cast on a limited basis in the new year when his NBC show ‘This Is Us’ wraps production of Season 1. While the dramedy is a hit and has already been renewed Season 2, a window of opportunity for him to temporarily reprise his role obviously exists. So, it will be interesting to see if Hartley and Y&R’s decision-makers are mutually interested in re-teaming.
