'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Sharon Is A Survivor – Character Needs New Man and New Story Direction

Sharon’s (Sharon Case) character has been tested many times on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But she’s always proven to be resilient since she first arrived in Genoa City in 1994. Now, over two decades later, Sharon is facing arguably the toughest emotional issue after Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) death and linked dissolution of her marriage to Nick (Joshua Morrow). Any viewer who counts her out needs to rethink that conclusion.

The various elements that comprise Sharon’s personality have served to divide the characters in Y&R’s fictional town. Similarly, this soap’s audience has separated itself into factions. Some fiercely defend Sharon, while others would love to see her evicted from the cottage, leave town and never return. The passion she evokes on both sides is reflective of the greatness in this character and of Case’s consistent efforts through the years.

Okay, Sharon confirmed that Christian (Jamie and Alister Tobias) was alive and didn’t tell that shocking truth to anyone other than Mariah (also played by Grimes). That was wrong, but as Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) recently advised Nick – this situation is unique. So special consideration should be given to how Sharon responded at the time, how she cared for Christian and how she’s cooperating right now.

Does Sharon deserve to face criminal penalties? Yes. However, jail time could be classified as a legal overreaction. Instead, she should repay her obstruction of justice debt by working community service hours with women who have been victimized. Sharon could relate to those injured souls and likely encourage many to move forward with their lives. Plus, that plot point would open a needed new storyline direction for this character that could flesh out her stronger side.

Steve Burton (Dylan) will film his final scenes next month. Whether this character is written out of the show or not, Sharon needs to be matched with a new man and a new arc would help to accomplish that goal. Yes, Sharon can grow and find love again. No one should bet against her reinvention.

In all cases you must stop with Nick! This couple turned in circles for years it no longer makes sense and it’s boring. I agree, it takes someone else and durable!
