‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Patty’s Move to Rivercrest Terrifies Sharon – The Beginning Of The End?

Sharon (Sharon Case) doesn’t need to watch Halloween-themed movies to create a scary atmosphere on ‘The Young and the Restless’. No, the reckless suggestion she offered Patty (Stacy Haiduk) through Mariah (Camryn Grimes) has caused a tenuous real life situation inside Genoa City. Now, as the Sully reveal looms, further delay tactics must be employed to stave off the seeming inevitable conclusion to this stretched arc.

The idea was for Patty to act bizarrely in order to force a transfer to a less restrictive facility, after which (not witch) Sharon and Mariah would aid in an escape plan. Of course, this so-called ‘plan’ was nothing more than a ruse to keep Patty from divulging what she knows about Christian Newman. That’s Sully’s true identity, as Y&R fans have been aware of from the beginning.

Patty played her part perfectly. Now, she rightly expects Sharon to deliver on the deal that was made. If Mrs. McAvoy pushes her off too long, or Patty believes that she’s been conned, the ace of spades card can always be played. With nothing to lose, why not wreck Sharon’s world by telling everything she knows about the incredible faux pregnancy secret? Yes, that would create quite the justified scandal.

Let’s pause for a moment and break through the fourth wall of this feature with an aside to the reading audience. This scribe believes that Haiduk is the modern day version of Kimberlin Brown. With Brown’s alter ego Sheila seemingly having been killed off years ago, the Patty character has become Genoa City’s recurring crackpot. Haiduk’s work is unarguably spectacular 100 percent of the time. She’s surely deserving of a Daytime Emmy nomination and possibly, based upon the competition, next year’s prize.

As for ongoing fictional matters: Sharon knows that her indefensible schemes are waning, but she still refuses to rip down her web of lies. Hiding behind an unsustainable story that she’s told Dylan (Steve Burton) and the rest of the world, all Sharon has left to hold onto is the hope that Patty reverts to an incoherent state. Unless, of course, that mental avenue is forcibly explored by the one person who stands to gain the most from Ms. William’s silence. Somewhere smokey that ghoul Sandy (Elizabeth Bogush) is likely cheering for Sharon. But, the vast balance of living society must be hoping Patty prevails.
